Hayyah Lourié(c.1835-1873) Developed Pinsk as an inland port and transport link between the Ukraine and the Baltic countries and Poland. Dealt, apparently, in timber, grain, fats, and salt. The wealthiest woman of her time in Pinsk. The title “Honorary Citizen of the Russian Empire” was bestowed upon her and her descendants by the Tsar Alexander II.
